Car Wash Again Proposed for Washington Township Former Bruster’s Property

Car Wash Again Proposed for Washington Township Former Bruster’s Property
Reading Time: 3 minutes

Boing US Holdco (Take 5) is proposing to develop a car wash at the closed Brewster’s Ice Cream property on Greentree Rd. in Washington Township.

They are scheduled to appear before the Planning Board on September 5th at 6pm.

While the public notice is listed as the corporate parent Boing US Holdco, the car wash brand will likely be Take 5, which is looking to build car washes and oil change facilities in several other South Jersey towns.

Previously a Modwash brand car wash was proposed for the same Bruster’s location, but  Modwash chose to not follow through on that application due to a zoning issue.

The combo Bruster’s Ice Cream and Nathan’s Hot Dog stand closed on October 30, 2022.

Similar to the prior proposal, the Take 5 car wash will be an completely all new build.

The proposal for the new Take 5 carwash requires them to demolish the existing structures on the property.

The car wash will consists of a 125-foot wash tunnel as well as two payment kiosks.

The parking spaces will include 17 self-vacuum spots and five additional parking spots for employee usage.

Requested variances that are listed in the public notice include them having fewer parking spaces than required, as well as the number of signs proposed.

Unfortunately at this time I do not have the site plan for the proposed car wash.

Take 5 – Starting Their South Jersey Expansion

Take 5 currently does not have a car wash open in South Jersey but they have looked for approval in Cherry Hill, Brooklawn, Monroe and Gloucester Townships.

They also have a oil change business operating under the same name with locations operating in Lawnside and Edgewater Park.   A new oil change location is under development in Lindenwold along the Blackwood Clementon Rd,  And they have plans for a location in Brooklawn
