Cherry Hill’s Il Villaggio is in the process of acquiring a liquor license for their Haddonfield-Berlin Rd restaurant and event space property.
Il Villaggio is a high end Italian restaurant featuring home made pastas and delicious entrees.
At this immediate time nothing has changed with their restaurant offerings. They are still a BYOB.
They are currently a BYOB but I believe they also have an agreement to sell at least one label of New Jersey wines.

OpenTable.com lists over 2,300 reviews for the restaurant with an average rating of 4.5 out of 5!
TripAdvisor.com also lists them as 4.5 out of 5 and in the top restaurants for Cherry Hill.
Inside Il Villaggio is several rooms which are available for for your next private event or function. So you can make a reservation for an intimate dinner, or have your next baby or bridal shower, birthday party, business event or wedding party at Il Villaggio!
We stopped in last week and spoke to a representative.
They do plan on adding a bar area to the property. But they expect the full development process to take over a year before the new bar section is opened.
It’s so early in the process at this time that any design decisions are still being made. There were no additional details to share with 42Freeway and the readers.
This move to add full liquor/beer to a well loved former BYOB Italian restaurant is similar to what was recently completed by Washington Township’s Luna Rossa. Although again we don’t know any details yet of Il Villagio’s full plans to add a bar.

The location is basically across the street from the large Winner Ford dealership.
Kaminski’s is another popular eatery and they are in the area… behind each other.
The location is easily accessible from Rt 295, Haddonfield is very close and Rt 70 is just 1.5 miles away
Liquor License – From Tir Na Nog – Short Hills
The liquor license will come from the former Tir Na Nog restaurant which previously operated on East Evesham Rd in the Short Hills shopping center.
It is our understanding that this it is a private sale from the owners of the Tir Na Nog assets to the owners of Il Villaggio. At this time no sale amount is known (by 42Freeway at least)
Tir Na Nog was closed in 2019, and the interesting building which had roots back to the 1890’s as the Short Hills Farmhouse was demolished in 2020.
Tir Na Nog was an Irish themed restaurant which operated for about 4 years. Prior to that it was Dublin Square… and other restaurants even before that.
While there are no published indications as to why they closed, back in 2011 the Virtual Hospital Voorhees was located a half mile away and maybe that started the changes in needs for a larger bar restaurant in that area.
Today the Short Hills shopping center which was home to Tir Na Nog is under construction with a new section of retail after a devastating fire struck the building just a year ago.
