Cherry Hill’s Approved LIDL Supermarket Looks to Go Smaller

Cherry Hill’s Approved LIDL Supermarket Looks to Go Smaller
Reading Time: < 1 minute

The LIDL Supermarket global chain was approved for a location in Cherry Hill almost 2 years ago, and now they are going back before the planning board (PDF) to reduce the size of their planned store at Rt 38 and Cuthbert Blvd.   The property is a very high-profile location which would put it near the Rt 38 Walmart, somewhat next to the Super Wawa, and a “stone’s throw” up Cuthbert from the Courier-Post newspaper.

Lidl has been working their way through several South Jersey communities the last few years…  planning, approving and now refining… their approach to the area’s competitive grocery marketplace.  So far the only store that has been developed is in Vineland, and almost 2 years ago LIDL was approved for a 36,000 sq ft store to be located at the intersection of Rt 38 and Cuthbert Blvd in Cherry Hill,

Planning Board February 19 – Smaller store

But on February 19th 2019, LIDL will be asking for a change in their previously approved store size of 36,000 sq ft… to bring it down to 29,000, which is about a 20% reduction in size.

This matches other media reports of them seeking approval in Voorhees for a 25,000 sq ft store, and plans to also ask to reduce an approved store in Burlington Township.
